Prince Of Peace
Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Christmas is a time when friends get together, families have reunions, and work has all these special lunches where… you guessed it, you get to hang out with more people. Don’t get me wrong, I love going to all these get-togethers because this is a season of being in community.
However, if you didn’t know, I am an introvert, so after hanging out with many people, I have to be alone and stare at a wall. It brings me peace. But you know what, my kind of peace is to get away from people to recharge. It is to sit alone and watch the Lakers.
Which begs the question, what is peace really?
Is peace the absence of people and ugly sweater parties?
Or is peace the presence of someone?
Isaiah 9:6 reminds us Who peace is really:
For to us a child is born, to us, a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
- Isaiah 9:6
As we recently heard from Pastor Jared, peace is Jesus Christ who reconciles us with God!
Peace is when our sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ!
This world will not be peaceful. Our friendships and family member relationships will not be perfectly peaceful. Our hearts will never be deeply peaceful. However, the Good News of Jesus Christ is that HE gives us peace through our relationship with God.
In other words, you and I can have eternal peace knowing that we will forever be with God in heaven. That there is nothing that will separate us from His love.
Today, we can have joy because Jesus is our Prince of Peace.
