This Is The Day!
If you’re like me, you grew up singing this song in Sunday school:
This is the day (this is the day)
That the Lord has made (that the Lord has made)
I will rejoice (I will rejoice)
And be glad in it (and be glad in it)
Psalm 9: 1-2 says:
I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
Amen! May you go through your day rejoicing in gladness at just how good God is. Excuse me if I’m a little giddy, y’all, but I woke up today with a full heart, with a heart of thanksgiving!
You see, back in the day, I used to need a major life event or holiday to give thanks and praise to the Lord, but now I just need a song in my heart! Why? Because we serve a good God, amen?
And when I look back over my life, I see how far He’s brought me, my family, and my friends, and I can’t help but give glory to Him.
I have a friend whose grandmother is 104 years old, and I’ll never forget the advice she gave. She said, “No matter how hard the trial is, wake up and give God thanks.” In releasing praise and gratitude from your mouth, chains break.
No matter what you’re going through, thank God! Whatever has you feeling stuck and weighed down, praise Him anyway. There is power in your praise!
Verses 9-10 say:
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
God has never left your side. Just hold onto Him and give Him praise. You got this. I know it’s not easy, but you can do this.
With God all things are possible. Amen? Amen.
