I Plead The Blood

When Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Goat once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passoverlamb. Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe.

Make preparations for us there.” The disciples left, went into the cityand found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. While they were reclining atthe table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one whois eating with me.” They were saddened, and one by one they said to him,“Surely you don’t mean me?”

1. What dots did you connect for the first time between the first Passover and Jesus on the cross? Review Exodus 12 together and discuss questions and revelations.
2. Pastor Jared discussed the elements of a Jewish Passover meal, including four cups of wine, representing God’s promises to the Israelites. These four promises still apply to us today: “I will bring out, I will deliver, I will redeem and I will take.” What circumstances in your life today can you connect to these promises? (Read Exodus 6:6-7 for help.)
3. Pastor Jared stated that the story of the cross is the story of a new Passover. Read Mark 14:22-26. How did approaching the new Passover table (communion) after the message feel to you? What thoughts have you had since? What “hymn” did you leave singing?
4. If the “doorway” of your life is covered with the blood (i.e. salvation), how does that change you? Does this knowledge give you peace, hope, etc.?
