At The Top

One thing I love to do is hike!

There’s just something about being in nature, climbing uphill, and then reaching the top of the mountain… there’s nothing like it! To be honest, I prefer hiking alone because I have the opportunity to hear from God without distraction or interruption. And when I reach the top of the mountain, my heart is full, and I’m overwhelmed with emotion. And I’ll tell you why: I have had to climb many mountains in my life. Over the years, I’ve been challenged to divorce worldly ideologies to renew my mind and grab ahold of God’s goodness and truth.

God continues to place me in seasons of stretching to expand my capacity to feel, be, and become more like Him. So, when I am in nature and hiking to the top of the mountain, I am reminded of the journey and the ability to overcome any obstacle in my life.

And I believe that David was alluding to the same type of victory in Psalm 21:1-7 which says:

The king rejoices in your strength, Lord. How great is his joy in the victories you give! You have granted him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked you for life, and you gave it to him— length of days, for ever and ever. Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty. Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

At the top of the mountain, we can rejoice in how far God has brought us, yet know that the journey doesn’t end there. At the top of the mountain, we are reminded that we have the victory and that God has adopted us into His royal priesthood and placed a crown of gold on our heads. At the top of the mountain, we can delight in knowing that the glory of the Lord will be revealed throughout our lives.

So as you champion your day, may you live in a state of remembrance of all that God has done for you and all He will do.
