Bold Faith

46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus, was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”

So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.

The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

- Mark 10:46-52

Maybe you hear this story and it’s a reminder of God's faithfulness and how He came through for you. Or maybe you hear this story of healing and you’re a bit frustrated because you’re still waiting on a miracle from God. I can assure you that God sees you. He hears you. And He knows what you need. So, whether your prayer is for healing, clarity, guidance, or to hear His voice, let today’s devotional be confirmation that God is with you right now.

The story of Bartimaeus is a testament to the healing power of Jesus, but also an encouragement to activate your faith. To see things through the eyes of the Father and to allow Him to guide you. Just as the people attempted to silence Bartimaeus as he was crying out to the Lord, the world may be doing the same to you.

But I want to encourage you that God has empowered you to be bold in your pursuit of Him.

James 4:8 reminds us that when we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. And, in Bartimaeus’ pursuit of Jesus, the Lord acknowledged him and sent for him. Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus until his needs were met. And Jesus recognized his unshaken faith and healed him.

Family, “faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for” (Hebrews 11:1, TPT). Bartimaeus didn’t allow his frailty to silence his cry for God! Instead, he activated the one thing he had, his faith, to ask for the thing he longed for. He felt Jesus’ presence and made the decision to relentlessly pursue Him. It was through the power of Jesus and Bartimaeus’ faith that gave him sight. So, I leave this with you today: Your faith is the gateway to all you need and more.

I pray today’s devotional encourages you to activate your faith and pursue Jesus more boldly.
