Brand New
We’re approaching Back-to-School week, and if you’re like me, you’re scrambling to complete last minute shopping for backpacks, supplies, clothes, shoes, and let’s not forget… the packing of school lunches again.
This summer looked different for my family than years prior. For years, Omri would be away visiting family for summer and I’d see him a couple months later in which he’d be a few inches taller, ready to start a new grade. Well, with his involvement in club soccer, long periods of time away from home aren’t going to work into our schedules anymore. So, for the first time in years, Omri and I got some great quality time together over the summer. It got me thinking that just because something changes in our lives, whether it be schedules or new rhythms, there is always an opportunity to learn and grow.
Especially when we get into our routines, we desire every little thing to be right. But God wants us to live a life of flexibility and peace. And, the truth is, we can’t do it on our own -- we need God to help us along the way.
Revelation 21:5 says,
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
- Revelation 21:5
Living this Christian life isn’t about maintaining our routines; it's about having enough trust in the One who brings it all together for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).
So don’t let the “newness” scare you. Grab ahold of it while trusting in the leading of Holy Spirit.
