Disneyland

Feb 2, 2022

The other day, my son Omri and I took a trip to Disneyland with some friends.

We had an amazing time! After a fun-filled day of rides, food, and walking, we were exhausted by the end of the night. Our favorite part of the day was screaming our heads off on all the rides! You can probably hear the exhaustion in my voice now. I’ll be honest with you, I love riding roller coasters, but I hate waiting in lines. We even considered paying extra for a pass to cut our wait time! The park was insane!

But, as I was driving home from Disney that night, God put on my heart that, as Christians, we tend to prefer a “fastpass” for the things we want, rather than patiently waiting on God’s timing. We’re all guilty of it. But I want to remind you of the God we serve. His ways are perfect, and His promises are true.

You see, God doesn’t just care if we wait on Him, He also cares how we wait. Are you patiently waiting with an expectant heart that God will deliver on His promises? Or are you waiting, frustrated that God hasn’t answered your prayer yet?

We live in a world where it’s easy to become enslaved to instant gratification and impatience. But we are all called to live counter culturally.

In fact, Scripture tells us that to love our neighbor is to be patient with them.

We see, in 1 Corinthians 13:4, it defines love with the first adjective being “love is patient.” We also see in Galatians 5:32 that patience is a part of the fruits of the Spirit.

Meaning that walking in patience is a testament to the working power of God’s presence in your life.

It may seem that an answer to your prayers is long overdue, but I want to encourage you today that we serve a God whose timing is perfect! And may I suggest that there’s something God wants to show you in the waiting. We serve an intentional God.

So, know that your waiting is not in vain. I know it’s not easy, but God is with you every step of the way.

Would you mind if I prayed for you?

Father, it’s so easy to get caught up in our timelines but starting today, we trust you now more than ever. We surrender our lives to you and declare, your will be done. Your plans over our plans. Your timing over our timing. Help us to bear patience. Help us to wait on you. In the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
