Everyone Has A Role To Play
“No one has ever become poor by giving.”
- Anne Frank
68 When they arrived at the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on its site.
69 According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver and 100 priestly garments.
- Ezra 2:68-69
When the Children of Israel were no longer exiled in Babylon, they were so glad to be home and to begin rebuilding the temple, they freely gave of their financial resources to the work before them. Darics and minas are unfamiliar to us, but the modern-day equivalent is 1,100 pounds of gold and 3 tons of silver. This was not pocket-change.
As the pandemic comes to a close (hopefully), God’s church embraces amazing new opportunities. As Pastor Jared shared this past Sunday, “I believe the best days of God’s church are ahead of us.” He also went on to say, “It won’t happen because of the contributions of a few, but from the sacrifices of many.”
Each and every one of us has an integral role to play in the future success of God’s church.
As American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, once said, “Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have.” St. Francis of Assisi affirmed this many years before when he proclaimed, “For it is in giving that we receive.”
We are at a pivotal point in the life of the church, and with that, we have a unique and exciting opportunity to be a part of its success story. We get to play a role...
...in reaching more people for Christ.
...in investing in the future of our children and youth.
...in feeding the hungry in our community.
...in the fight against human trafficking.
...in providing Biblical counsel to those who have lost their way and are searching for answers.
...in discipling those who seek to grow in their walk with Jesus.
It is as one unknown person put it best, “Your greatness is not in what you have; it’s what you give.”
I invite you to pray about what God would have you give to make a difference in the future of His church. Everyone has a role to play.
