God I Look To You
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
- Psalm 121:1-2, 7-8 ESV
We’ve all been there - striving up a mountain in our lives, wondering how many more steps we have left in us to conquer whatever it is we may be facing. It’s often that our hearts grow weary due to our limited vision and capacity for the situations of this world - no matter how big or small they seem.
It’s only human.
But the good news is we are not alone.
Not only do we have a God who remains alongside us each step of our journey, but He is a consistently faithful protector of His people. And when we shift our gaze from the difficulty of our circumstance to the sovereign character of our God, our weariness begins to fade away and be replaced with confidence that can only be placed in the Lord above all.
It’s like the song “God I Look To You” says:
God I look to You,
You’re where my help comes from,
Give me wisdom,
Because You know just what to do
We have a Helper that we can trust in and learn from each step of the way. And that’s a reason to praise!
As you go through your day, take a moment to lift your eyes to the Maker of Heaven and Earth.
And may you respond in well-deserved praise to the God who knows just what to do no matter your circumstance.
