Impossible

Have you ever felt like you were invisible to the world?

Are you a mountain person or a beach person?

For me, I really love both.

Having grown up in Southern California, going to the beach to chill is legit one of my favorite ways to decompress and get rejuvenated.

However, having been to Banff, Canada, you can’t help but to fall in love and marvel at the beautiful majestic mountains.

So I’m torn. What about you?

But everything changed when God gave me a new perspective on mountains. It was during a time when I felt invisible to others.

It’s when you wonder, does anyone really care about me? Do I even matter to others?

It’s when you can have a bunch of Instagram followers and likes, but you don’t feel loved.

It’s when you can be around many people at work or even at church, but feel like no one really sees you.

Anyone feel me on this?

As I was thinking about this, I was driving through the Rocky Mountains in Banff, Canada. I rolled down the windows and allowed the cool breeze to hit my face. Then, what hit me next was how beautiful, complex and captivating the mountains were. And I muttered to myself, wow, this is really amazing. How can this be? It’s just mind blowing.

Then, in that moment, God reminded me, “I make beautiful things.”

This is what I think Psalm 139 is getting at.

You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb.

I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!

- Psalm 139:13-14

This passage points us to who God is. How God is everywhere and how God knows everything. In other words, we are not invisible to God. It is impossible.

So whenever I wonder, I don’t think I matter, I don’t think anyone sees me, I read this verse to myself and say, it is impossible.

Psalm 139:3-5 again says:

You see me when I travel and when I rest at home.

   You know everything I do.

You know what I am going to say

even before I say it, Lord.

You go before me and follow me.

You place your hand of blessing on my head.

I love how one person puts it:

“Regardless of whether people see or care, never forget that God sees every little detail of your life. Nothing goes unnoticed by Him. Even if you feel like you are invisible to the world, you are never invisible to Him.”

Friends, this day, I pray that you will be reminded that you are never invisible to Jesus. It is impossible. God so wanted to prove this to us by sending us His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to tell the world, “I see you. I know you. And I love you.”

One way we can live this out is to see those around us. Who can we encourage today with a hello, a text, or a phone call? Who can we remind this week that God sees you and so do I? God loves you and so do I.

This is one way we can become good neighbors today for God’s glory.
