Psalm 33
Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Praise the Lord with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy.
- Psalm 33:1-3
Amen! One of the things I love about the Psalms is the worshipful passages that just stir my soul and raise my spirit. I am reminded of the God we serve and just how worthy He is.
Worship is such a special and important part of my life. And I learned many years ago that my worship to God far exceeds any song, but it is the way I live; it is the way I revere our Lord; it is the way I ascribe worth to the King of Kings. As many of you may know, David, the author of the Psalms was a worshiper. And what I love about Psalm 33 is that he begins the chapter by singing and giving praise to the Lord then, in verse four, shares with us the reason why God is worthy to be praised, it says:
For the word of the Lord is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.
The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.
- Psalm 33:4-5
David’s response to God’s goodness was worship. What an example he has set for us to follow. So, when you’re tempted to grab your phone first thing in the morning, check social media, or get caught up in the busyness of your day, will you pause for a moment to give God what He so deserves?
My prayer today is that you will approach your day with thankfulness, singing, and praising God because, through your worship, God will meet you there. You see, there’s an exchange that takes place. When you worship, things change. Like David, may your worship be a response to the character of God.
He is loving and He is good. God bless you!
