Redfin On Repeat
When my wife and I were in the process of searching for our first home together, we were on Redfin all day and night!
We had to make sure we were the first ones to see the new listing, see the property and then give an offer. It was to a point the Redfin app was on the first screen on my phone... which says a lot! It was the first thing I looked at when I woke up. Even when I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, you guessed it, Redfin. While sitting on the sidelines waiting to play pick-up basketball, Redfin. Redfin was on repeat on our phones, on our minds, and in our hearts. Why? Why was Redfin on repeat? Because we were serious about getting the right house and a good deal.
Can you hear the spiritual lesson here?
When we get serious about something, we pursue it day and night.
Joshua 1:8 reminds us of a very needed discipleship principle:
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
- Joshua 1:8
The word “meditate” is literally to ponder and give serious thought and consideration. When you and I get serious about being a disciple of Christ, we will pursue and meditate on the Bible day and night. We will give it serious thought.
Furthermore, the verse says, “so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.” In other words…
Serious meditation leads to careful obedience.
Are you seeing a lack of obedience in your life? Then start with daily serious meditation on God’s Word.
Are you struggling with not knowing how to follow Jesus? Then start with daily serious meditation on God’s Word.
I have to be real with myself if I have the time, energy, and capacity to put Redfin on repeat because I was serious about purchasing a house.
So how much more do I need to bring the same energy and dedication to ponder God’s word?
So this past week, I dusted off my packet of 60 verses in my closet and have started the baby steps of meditating and seriously pondering one verse every morning before I come to work.
How will you go first in being a disciple of Christ? So that instead of Redfin on repeat, we can have God’s Word on repeat in our minds and hearts. Amen!
