Rest Easy
As you know, we serve a God who is all-knowing and all-powerful.
But if you’re like me, your humanity kicks in and you’ve found yourself asking questions like:
- “God, why did this happen?”
- “God, you have the ability to heal me, why haven’t you?”
- “God, you know what’s going to happen before it does so, why didn’t you intervene on my behalf?”
As Christians, we don’t have all the answers and that can be unsettling.
I remember, early in my walk with God, there was a time where I questioned the intentions of God, wondering why things in my life didn’t turn out differently. But I held onto this anchor verse:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
– Matthew 11:28-30
We don’t have all the answers but we have something better. God gave us Himself. He gave us the ability to overcome, to sustain, and to endure the hardships of life. And not for nothing.
Romans 5 reminds us that our…
…suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
- Romans 5:3-5
You may be in some rock-bottom places in life that have left you vulnerable and in need.
But today, I want you to acknowledge the power and sovereignty of our God.
I want you to grab ahold of the known and the unknown, trusting that in Christ Jesus you will prevail. If you’re looking for answers today, I want you to rest in the peace that surpasses all understanding; a peace that can only come from our loving Father. Today, allow your posture to be: “God I don’t know how this is going to end but I trust you.”
Family, may your soul find rest. Know how loved you are by your church family and our amazing God. He is enough and you will get through this.
