Upset The Gram
I was listening to a podcast recently, and the gentleman cited a resource of a study that was done on teens to get an idea of what they wanted to do with their lives - what they wanted to be when they grew up.
The dominant response was “famous!” They wanted fame. Now, I grew up in a time where people in TV, music, and sports who were extraordinary in their craft were the ones becoming famous. But now, in 2022, you can achieve fame from YouTube, simply by sitting in front of a screen! I say all that to say, whether you’re attempting fame or acceptance from the world or just your sphere of influence, be sure you’re honoring God in the process.
Matthew 8:36 (TPT) says,
For what use is it to gain all the wealth and power of this world, with everything it could offer you, at the cost of your own life?
Even if you had all the money and power in the world, God cares most about the condition of your soul and how you’re growing His Kingdom.
Be a Christ influencer to those around you. Chances are you’re listening to this devotional because God has impacted your life in some way. He has inspired and influenced you to become more like Him, to truly be a follower of Jesus. So tell the world about Him. Make life less about Instagram follows and more about gaining followers for Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (MSG) tells us that:
We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.
So today, may you be an influencer. May you impact the lives of those you encounter in a way that will be a representation of who God is!
