What to Do When You’re Triggered
How do you respond when you’re triggered?
Ever been cut off on the freeway? Upset with a friend? Maybe just having an off day? Strong people must learn how to respond in moments of emotional distress. In order to be emotionally fit, we must be emotionally aware. Increased self-awareness helps us understand and control our reactions.
We have two choices when we’re triggered…
So how do we rise above our circumstances? We need to know what’s going on inside, so we can choose the best response.
From there you can go even further and check in with your four primary emotions: anger, fear, sadness, and joy.
When you know what these feelings are doing inside of you, you can control how they affect your responses. Doing daily check-ins and giving space for your feelings will create a more whole, healthy, and strong version of you.
