A Risk Of Faith
“If we spend our days trying to avoid the landmines of stepping out of God’s Will, then we’ll be afraid to take any risks for His Kingdom. But when you know there is a safety net of grace, when you know that God will catch you and set you back on His path when you fall, then you’ll feel the freedom to pursue the adventure that kingdom living is all about.”
- Will Davis, Jr.
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”
- Jesus, Matthew 25:21
In the Parable of the Talents, two of the servants are rewarded, not because of how much they made, but because of their willingness to take a risk and put to work what had been given them. The same applies to us. God, through His Holy Spirit, has given each of us gifts and talents. God does not have an expectation of how much return we will gain on our investment, but He does have an expectation that we will take a risk of faith and put to work that which He has given us for the benefit of His Kingdom.
We matter to God, and He has chosen to invest in us. Why? Because He believes in us.
To sit back and do nothing, to waste that which He has given us, is a slap in the face to Him. It shows not only a lack of gratitude, but a lack of trust.
God will never punish us for trying, for taking risks on His behalf. In fact, He will reward our efforts by making new opportunities available to us. As Joe Dawson put it, “Next level God assignments cause you to take even bigger risks and more chances.” In doing so, God’s Kingdom is advanced, and we experience the blessing of serving Him.
We have a God who loves us so much that He sent His Only Son to die for us.
Will we let apathy or fear of failure control us, or are we willing to take a risk of faith to accomplish something great for the Kingdom of God?
