Christ In You
Living the Christian life seems daunting. How do you live at peace on the inside when there is war?
Be generous when the markets are shaky? Love your neighbor when his dogs bark? Take care of the sick when you are worried about getting sick? How does one live this way and not become totally exhausted?
The Christian life was hard in 2019, but every desire you have to live the way of Jesus has been tested in 2020. So how do we live the “Christian life?” The truth is, we don’t.
Notice what Paul said to the Colossians:
27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
28 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.
- Colossians 1:27-29
Did you catch that? It’s Christ IN you, the hope of glory. The message of Christianity is not God is with you. The message of Christianity is not God is for you. The message of Christianity is not that God is beside you. All of those are true, but that is not the hope of glory. The hope of glory is that Christ is IN you. What does this mean? The Spirit of God has chosen to take up residence in you. When you can’t, He can. Do you feel like you are not strong enough to live the Christian life today? I don’t feel like I’m strong enough either.
The good news is we don’t have to and apparently we aren’t supposed to. Christ is in us, living His life through us. Go in peace today my friends; Jesus is walking in your skin.
