“God is the giver of all good gifts, and He strews gifts of grace along each person’s daily pathway – but we need receptive eyes, stilled minds, and open hearts to see, sense and be thankful for them.”

- Unknown

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

- Jesus, Matthew 7:9-11

Children are never afraid to ask their parents for what they want. Regardless of the answer, they keep on asking. God, our Father, not only wants us to keep on asking, He wants to give us good gifts. He is simply that kind of God.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

- Psalm 37:4

The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

- Psalm 84:11

Indeed, the Lord will give what is good.

- Psalm 85:12

For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.

- Psalm 107:9

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…

- James 1:17

Knowing that God IS the giver of good gifts and WANTS to give us good gifts, why would we not be relentless in asking our Father for the desires of our hearts?

Let’s keep on praying to the Giver of Good Gifts with grateful hearts for what He bestows upon us.

As A.B. Simpson, the founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, once wrote, “WARNING: We may become so enamored with God’s good gifts that we fail to worship the Giver.”

May we, out of a heart of gratitude, celebrate both the gifts and the Giver.
