God Never Fails
“The Devil caught me with my head down and got excited until I looked up and said Amen.”

In Daniel 6, the Children of Israel are still in exile in Babylon. The new king, King Darius the Mede, wrote a decree that anyone who prayed to any god other than himself would be thrown to the lions. What did Daniel do? He went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
The officials in Babylon, who were jealous of Daniel’s relationship with the King, reported him and reminded the King of his decree. This distressed the King, for he loved and respected Daniel and did not want to throw him to the lions. However, a decree was a decree, and it must be carried out. Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den with the King crying out, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!” Then he went back to his castle, but could not sleep.
In Daniel 6, beginning in verse 19, we read…
19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”
21 Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions.”
Daniel trusted God regardless of the circumstances, and God was faithful.
If Daniel can trust God in the lion’s den, then I believe we can trust him with whatever we are up against… our worries, our stress, our trials, our struggles, our health, our finances, our children, our marriage, our job, or anything else we can think of.
Six-year-old Taylor was asked what the most important lesson we could learn from Daniel and the lion’s den. His answer, “To pray always, and to forgive people.” I think he nailed it.
