Greater Things
“We must know that we have been created for greater things, not just to be a number in the world, not just to go for diplomas and degrees, this work and that work. We have been created in order to love and to be loved.”
- Mother Teresa
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.”
- Jesus, John 14:12
You have probably heard the old saying, “God loves us right where we are, but He loves us way too much to allow us to stay there.” God has greater things in store for us that go far beyond what we have already seen and accomplished in this life. It won’t happen because we work harder or become more educated, but because we put Jesus before everything else.
He said in Matthew 6:33,
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
Not only will God meet our daily needs, He will also give us everything we need to be all that He created us to be. He has greater things planned for us.
Numerous times in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul reminds us of this truth:
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed in us.”
- Romans 8:18
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly that all we ask or think, according to the power a work in us.
- Ephesians 3:20
To this end we always pray for you, that our god may make you worthy of His calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by His power.
- 2 Thessalonians 1:11
Don’t sell yourself short. More importantly, don’t sell God short.
He is preparing greater things for you. If you are willing to totally surrender yourself to Him and put Him first before all other things, He will take you further than you ever thought possible and farther than you can even imagine.
An unknown author put it his way,
“Give yourself permission to live a big life. Step into who you were meant to be. Stop playing small. You’re meant for greater things.”
Pastor Ken
