IF God Is For Us

If God is for us, it really doesn’t matter who is against us. The giants are big, but God is bigger. We have weaknesses, but God has strength. We sin, but God forgives us. We fail, but God never gives up on us.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

- The Apostle Paul, Romans 8:31

This may surprise you, but I’m not perfect! Ha! As if there was ever any doubt. I know I make poor choices; I know I let God and people down, and I know I have shortcomings that prevent me from always being the best I can be.

However, I choose to not live in my imperfections, rest in my failures or dwell in my shortcomings, for I know God is for me and nothing can stand against me. In Him, I am More Than a Conqueror.

Ten years ago, a band out of England called “Alm UK” wrote and recorded a worship song on this very truth. I think their words speak volumes:

Before our God creation bows

Kingdoms tremble at His greatness

In awesome power and majesty

He is reigning now forever

This same God is our great God

And His power is in us

This same God is our great God

And we will not be shaken

God is for us who can be against us

Who can stand against His own

God has saved us nothing separates us

Nothing separates us from the love of God

And because we know that God is for us and nothing can stand against us, may we live out with boldness and confidence the words of the final stanza of this song:

Almighty God we stand for you

We will rise up in your freedom

Your Kingdom rules Your church prevails

You are glorified forever
